阿給的由來是因為台灣人的節儉美德,店家為了不想浪費沒賣出的食物,而想出的特殊料理方式。

所謂的阿給就是油豆腐,挖去中間的豆腐,把炒過且用風扇吹冷的粉絲塞進去,用魚漿封住切開的豆腐面,接著放進蒸籠或者電鍋裡蒸熟,食用時淋上特殊醬料。老饕推薦夏天吃阿給要搭配冰豆漿,冬天吃阿給要配上一碗淡水的魚丸湯,這樣更顯出阿給的美味。

此美食以淡水最為有名。販賣阿給的店家除了供應阿給之外,也有如魚丸湯、味增湯小吃湯品的搭配。另外在佐料方面,店家供應甜辣醬、特辣醬,可供消費者選擇。
