Snow milk ice, considered an advanced version of traditional shaved ice, has a much softer and silkier texture combined with a milky fragrance.

Where is it from?

Snow milk ice is also named “snow flake ice” or “mein mein ice” in Chinese. The origin of snow milk ice was believed to be from the Shilin Night Market. Originally, people invented snow flake ice in order to make it distinct from traditional shaved ice. Surprisingly, snow milk ice became so popular that it has been on the market for nearly 46 years. Snow milk ice is in the same category as shaved ice. Precisely speaking, it is considered to be the advanced version of shaved ice. The texture is much softer and silkier with a milky fragrance. People can choose the ingredients as well as the flavors according to their preferences.

How do you prepare it?

This is the method of making snow milk ice: First, stir the sugar ice cubes with specialized machines. After stirring continuously, the sugar ice cubes will become similar to a sorbet. It can then be eaten separately or with other ingredients.

Where do you buy it?

Snow milk ice is very popular and people can find it at almost every ice store or night market.
