Papaya milk is simply a healthy drink made by the mixture of both fresh papaya and milk.

 

Where is it from?

When talking about the origins of Papaya Milk, there are usually two stories; one is from Taichung and another is from Kaohsiung. However, the latter one is better known. In summer 1966, the Chungs came to Kaohsiung and inspired by its hot weather. They invented papaya milk by mixing Kaohsiung’s specialty–Papaya–and milk together and started their first store in a bustling and hustling area.

Where do you buy it?

Due to the fact that papaya milk is very popular in Taiwan, people could both buy it both in convenient stores and supermarkets as packed drinks or in drinks shops as a freshly made papaya milk.

木瓜牛奶

木瓜牛奶的起源眾說紛紜,一般分為台中與高雄兩種說法,其中以高雄的「高雄牛乳大王」最為知名。民國五十五年的夏天,一對來自中台灣的鍾文梁夫婦來到炎熱的高雄,為了能夠喝到既營養又解渴的飲料,便靈機一動將南台灣盛產的木瓜加入高雄在地牧場的純鮮奶,並在同年於當時最繁華的五福路華王飯店旁創業。

木瓜牛奶的原料非常簡單,只有木瓜、鮮奶和白砂糖。首先將木瓜去籽並削去外皮、切塊放入果汁機中,倒入約300cc的鮮奶,再加入150cc的開水或碎冰塊,最後加入適量的糖,瞬間打汁即可。

木瓜牛奶因為在台灣廣受大眾歡迎,所以不僅便利商店與超級市場中皆有工廠生產的盒裝木瓜牛乳,在許多連鎖飲品店也可買到現打的木瓜牛乳。
